FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a TransitBreak layover experience?
A TransitBreak layover experience is an activity designed specifically for travelers who want to make the most of their time between flights.
Today, our experiences mainly include sightseeing tours, but the concept goes beyond tours and may include other ways to explore, enjoy or experience a destination during a layover.
Each experience is planned around your flight schedule, with airport pickup and return where applicable, and sufficient time allowed for airport procedures and your onward journey.
How long does my layover need to be?
Minimum layover requirements vary depending on the destination, airport and experience.
Each experience page clearly shows the minimum layover required before booking. This allows time for the experience as well as immigration, airport procedures, transfers and return before your onward flight.
Do I need a visa to leave the airport?
Visa and entry requirements depend on your nationality, passport, destination and applicable immigration rules.
You are responsible for ensuring that you meet all applicable entry, transit and immigration requirements before booking.
If you are unsure whether you can leave the airport during your layover, check with the relevant immigration authority, embassy or consulate, or your airline before booking.
Does TransitBreak provide visa services or immigration advice?
No. TransitBreak does not provide visa services or immigration advice.
Travelers are responsible for confirming their own passport, visa, entry and transit requirements.
Where will I be picked up and dropped off?
For most layover experiences, pickup is from your arrival airport and return is to the airport for your onward flight.
The exact pickup and meeting instructions are provided after booking.
Check the individual experience page for its specific pickup and drop-off details.
Can I bring my luggage?
Carry-on bags and small suitcases can normally be accommodated.
If you are traveling with multiple, large or oversized bags, please tell us in advance so that suitable vehicle space can be confirmed with the operator.
What happens if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
Contact TransitBreak or the tour operator as soon as possible.
Depending on your remaining layover time and operator availability, we will first try to adjust or reschedule your experience.
If this is not possible because of an airline delay, cancellation or schedule change, the TransitBreak booking fee is non-refundable. TransitBreak may, at its discretion, offer credit toward a future booking.
Please see our Terms & Conditions for the complete policy.
How does pricing work?
Prices are shown per paying traveler unless otherwise stated.
- Adults: Pay the applicable price per traveler.
- Children: Pay the applicable traveler price and receive their own seat.
- Infants (0–4 years): Travel free when accompanied by an adult if they do not require a separate seat. If a separate seat is required, the infant should be booked as a paying traveler.
Where available, group discounts are calculated automatically based on the number of paying travelers in the same booking.
How does payment work?
The total tour price is split into two payments:
- Pay now: The amount paid online when you make your booking.
- Pay later: The remaining amount paid directly to the local tour operator according to your booking instructions.
Both amounts are part of the total tour price—the split payment does not increase the price of your tour.
The total tour price, Pay now amount and Pay later amount are clearly shown before you complete your booking.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you cancel more than 24 hours before the scheduled experience start time, the TransitBreak booking fee paid online is refunded in full.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the scheduled experience start time, the TransitBreak booking fee is non-refundable.
Different circumstances, including operator cancellations and flight disruptions, are explained in our Terms & Conditions.
Can I request a customized layover experience?
Yes. If the available experiences or durations do not suit your layover, we may be able to arrange a customized private experience through one of our local operator partners.
Contact us with your airport, flight schedule, number of travelers and sightseeing preferences, and we will check what may be available.
Is TransitBreak the tour operator?
No.
TransitBreak is a booking platform that connects travelers with independent local tour operators. The local operator is responsible for delivering the experience, while TransitBreak facilitates the booking and communication.
