How to Make the Most of Your Time Between Flights at Dubai Airport
A long connection at Dubai International Airport doesn’t necessarily mean spending the entire layover inside the terminal. If you have enough time and meet the applicable UAE entry requirements, your connection may offer an opportunity to see part of Dubai before your onward flight.
The key is not simply asking “How long is my layover?” but “How much usable time do I actually have outside the airport?”

Can I Leave Dubai Airport During a Layover?
Potentially, yes.
Whether you can leave Dubai International Airport (DXB) depends on factors including your nationality, UAE visa or entry eligibility, your flight arrangements and the time available.

If your flights are on separate tickets, baggage arrangements can also affect your connection. Dubai Airports notes that some passengers on separate tickets need to clear passport control, retrieve their baggage and check in again for their onward flight.

Daytime or Evening Dubai Layover?
Dubai changes considerably after sunset.
A daytime layover offers clearer views of the city’s architecture, coastline and neighbourhoods, while an evening layover can showcase the illuminated skyline and a different atmosphere around Downtown.
What is practical will depend on your flight schedule, traffic, attraction opening hours and the experience available at the time of your booking.
